Side 2

Monday - orange skies
Tuesday - blue melody
Wednesday - help I'm a rock
Thursday - hung upside down
Friday - dedicated follower of fashion and urgent morning fax - NYT says advert must be received by end of day, no exceptions. What ad? No time to wonder why no one knew of deadline before today. There is milk to be frothed post-haste. The emergency "Monkey in Tree" design is quickly dusted and deployed. File transmitted to NY at 3. At 4, volunteer to cross Connecticut to deliver Salinger to binder for repairs. Honking traffic standstill. Eschew the SRO & stationary bus and walk distance to next town, over rusted steel railroad bridge and flowing river water that is olive drab and unreflective. In town, one slice, one beer, one newspaper. Sitting before a mirrored wall - at right, a stonefaced woman stares at herself and tugs repeatedly on her shirt at the shoulders so that it hangs acceptably - three highschool girls move across the scene within the reflection, eyes bouncing off glass as one says to the others, "...rock stars wouldn't be caught dead doing that then, now they all jump in line." In the NYT there is a story about two teenage girls recently killed in Jerusalem. One was a victim, the other was a suicide bomber. Age 18 & 17, they exploded together at the entrance of a supermarket. The story spoke of the parallel lives they'd led, and displayed photos of their simular faces. Reading on, it said one girl lived all her life in a refugee camp and was an exceptional student, the other grew up in Los Angeles and most enjoyed working out at the gym. There was also a sad picture of the wrecked store front.
