Years ago, I believed certain circumstances to be signs of good fortune - that my Great Grandmother was a Fitzgerald - that I was born on the same day as Hemingway. But the things which I believed in are no longer quite enough... Confronted by the sight of deep wrinkles and torn edges in events unfolded, I'm not so sure anymore.
