Good God, this painting sucks. Wanna buy it? Actually, it is technically quite accomplished, but man, it reminds me of a scene from "Eight is Enough", and that is enough to foment a grimace whenever I glance at it. This is the original painting for a paperback edition of The World According to Garp, and as a fine art piece it certainlty is regrettable, though it hits a home run in terms of its kitsch factor. No doubt for the Irving collector who not only has everything, but who is also tired of disposing with their excess cash by means of shredding it in a Cuisinart.
